What is Sudoku?
  • Sudoku is a Number placement puzzle performed on a Grid of 9x9 Squares...
  • A Number between 1 and 9 must be placed in each Square, such that each Row and each Column contains the Numbers 1 through 9.
  • Similarly, the Grid is further divided into 9 Subgrids and each also must contain the numbers 1 through 9.
  • The puzzle is partially completed and you must fill the remaining Squares, there will be only 1 solution.
  • For more information about Sudoku and its history please see wikipedia.org/wiki/Sudoku.
Why Was Sudoku by MyDocz Created?

If you are getting enjoyment from playing Sudoku by MyDocz on the web or as an app on your phone - that's great.

However, Sudoku by MyDocz was created to showcase some of the technical capabilities MyDocz offers to prospective clients or employers.

It has purposefully been created using a broad mixture of tech, for example Json and XML, Java and c# etc, when less mixture would have been more practical.

Practicality though was not the objective, and we hope to show how we can incorporate and use these different technologies well.

For more information about how Sudoku by MyDocz has been built, please see www.mydocz.com/SudukoTech.html.

How To Play Sudoku by MyDocz
  • From the menu, click on "Play Game" - choose your difficulty level.
  • The Grid will be displayed with options either to the right or below. Some of the Squares will be completed, the blank ones you need to complete.
  • Examine the empty Squares to determine where you believe a Number should go. Click on that Square, which will highlight it, then click on the Number in the options area that you want to place there.
  • If you make a mistake, a red warning will be placed in that Square. You can click on the Square again and then click on another Number in the options area, or click the Trash icon to remove it.
  • If you click on a Square already completed, that and all the other Squares containing the same Number will be highlighted. This can help you place missing ones of that Number.
  • If you are stuck, you can click the "Hint" button in the options area. This will highlight:
    1. A Row, Column or Subgrid with only 1 missing Number.
    2. A combination of Row, Column and Subgrid where the junction of these is not completed, but only 1 Number can be placed there.
    3. All of 1 particular Number in the grid, and from these another of that Number can be determined.
  • When all the Grid has been filled, and the Numbers are is the correct Squares, the game is complete.
